Dexx, this came right on time as I’m meeting with a prospect tomorrow and wanted to leave him with lots of food for thought.

Very interesting. This rings true to me, since many of the smartest, most talented people I know have spent most of their time trying to improve the world, and shown only a marginal interest in financial rewards.
BTW, socialism is hardly a radical concept. Most developed nations, even including the US (with bits of a battered social safety net still in place, though under relentless attack by the corporate henchmen-otherwise known as right wing congress members and supreme court justices) use some mix of socialist and market capitalist economic structures.
Currently, European countries show far more promise for successful, sustainable economic growth with their fascinating variety of innovative mixed economies than does the crumbling, self-devouring, deeply corrupt system of corporate thievery and gangsterism in the United States. Corporations here have achieved almost total control of politics, with devastating results in every arena. We are close to a full scale workers’ revolt as a result, and not a moment too soon.
We have to get rid of the dominant paradigm in which socialism and capitalism are considered incompatible opposites, and socialism is considered “anti-American” since this is a capitalist economy. Of course it’s an uphill battle given the ownership of the media that generally sets the parameters of the national conversation (though less so now with the internet-and that’s one of the reasons the free exchange of ideas online is under attack). Reality is more complex, than that narrow, polarized view, as your video shows. Americans who consider themselves capitalists are nonetheless overwhelmingly in favor of social programs, with social security leading the way, as perhaps the most popular government program in our history.
